Angels are everywhere

We were running behind schedule for our 7am departure at Newark Airport; I wasn’t concerned until the insurmountable security line confronted us. It didn’t look good. We had 20 minutes to catch the plane. My first choice was to relax; thinking we’ll make it just in the nick of time. But as time passed quickly and the line moved slowly, I suddenly knew we would not make our flight. I had to do something, but what? I was ensconced in a sea of unhappy travelers. Intuitively, I bolted out of the line to find help. There was no one in sight, except two TSA workers. I called to them and asked for help, they shook their heads ‘no’ in reply. I began to walk back to the line, and let go of the attachment to the outcome of making my flight. When out of nowhere, a man called to me. He quickly showed me his badge, checked my ticket and escorted us to the front of the line. We arrived at the gate as the cabin door was closing.

I’m quite sure this man was an angel; perhaps not the celestial variety of angel, yet, an angel non the less. We all have the potential to serve as angels for each other.
The visual archetype of an angel is a human with wings to fly; it is a beautiful metaphor for our aspirations to rise to our highest potential and greatest good.
